About Us!

Ames High Winter Cheer is made up of approximately forty-five cheerleaders, one head coach, and two assistant coaches. Our cheerleaders are divided into two Freshmen squads, two Junior Varsity squads, and three Varsity squads. The cheerleaders cover over 180 events throughout the winter season, cheering at all Boys and Girls Basketball games, Wrestling meets, and assisting with the timing of Boys' Swim Meets. We also are involved in extra events such as hosting our annual youth cheerleading clinic at the high school and participating in the opening games of the Iowa Special Olympics. The winter cheerleaders are a great group of young ladies, dedicated, hard working, caring, and full of school spirit!
